Santa Con

There are Santa Cons all around that nation, on Saturday it took San Francisco by storm. Starting at City Hall, people dressed up in Santa costumes march around the city in a very rarely sober manner. Jumping from bar to bar, wearing just a Santa cap isn’t enough to fit in with this rowdy gang.

NBA is back on Christmas Day

With a long lockout delaying the beginning of the NBA season, the Warriors new Head Coach Mark Jackson had a little extra time to prepare his team for the season, as a first time head coach. As a former player, Jackson led both the Knicks and Pacers to multiple playoff appearances. Jackson was hired to bring that winning attitude to the Bay Area.

Other than Mark Jackson, the Warriors are yet to make any big off season transactions. Both Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry return to build on the good seasons last year, and the emerging Dorell Wright will be aiming to take the next step as an effective player in the NBA. In the front court they have a strong 3 in David Lee, Andres Biedrins, and Ekpe Udoh.

The Warriors open up the late season on Christmas Day against the Clippers who seem to be getting stronger the closer to season we get. The Warriors will be playing the last game of the day, on a day which features five games, all being aired on national television.

The Warriors get two preseason games against the Kings on the 17th and the 20th than get a five day break before their season opener.

Best of the West

Along with the undefeated Green Bay Packers, The San Francisco 49ers clinched their division and cemented their place in the 2011 Playoffs. At 10-2 the 49ers continue to fight for home-field advantage throughout, but are going to need a little help from the NFL best Pack-show. On a day where Frank Gore became all-time leading rusher in franchise history the 49ers demolished the St. Louis Rams on both sides of the field finishing the game with a 26-0 shutout.

As they continue to show their dominance on the field, Alex Smith is having a career best season. Since Harbaugh came on board to begin the season, the usually struggling Smith has found the light while enjoying the 10-2 record. They have secured at least one home game in the playoffs and are looking for more. A 1st round bye is very probable for them but must continue to play solid team football to win out. With 3 of the 4 remaining games left against their 3 division rivals, the toughest match up will be when the Steelers come to town 2 weeks from tonight in a huge Monday Night Football match up.

If the defense can put goose eggs across the board as they did on Sunday against a struggling Rams team they will have no problems. Led by Linebackers Patrick Willis and NaVarro Bowman, the 49er defense leads the league in rush defense and went on a mid season streak where they did not give up a touchdown in multiple games in a row.

Thanksgiving NFL Top Ten Moments

Thanksgiving is big in America, but what happens to those people who get used to America then happen to move to another country? Here are a few Thanksgiving traditions that have made it around the globe.

SOUTH KOREA

– People do not have access to turkeys so they eat ham and chili on Thanksgiving.

TURKEY

– Potatoes, green beans, and corn are readily available.

– Ovens in Turkey are reminiscent of microwaves here in America. Drumsticks in a bag are a substitute for the holiday’s.

– OceanSpray Cranberry sauce sells for $10/can in Turkey.

PARIS, FRANCE

– Duck, goose, or rotisserie chicken is eaten instead of Turkey. Pork Chops can be eaten as a substitute for turkey.

9-1, Playoff Bound?

With a convincing win yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers have pushed their record to 9-1 and are now 2nd best in the league. Jim Harbaugh really has these guys playing together football with already tying the amount of wins they had last year.

I was at the game, and let me tell you, the fans really showed out to support their team. Even though it started as a rainy, cloudy, cold day, the fans showedout in full support. David Akers really struggled in the 1st half making only 3 field goals out of his 6 attempts while having to of those 3 misses blocked. Although it was a rough first half for them in terms of getting into the endzone, in the 2nd half Alex Smith picked it up right away.

Connecting with Wide Receiver Kyle Williams early in the 3rd quarter pushed the 49er lead to 16, and they would never look back.Fitzgerald would end up getting into the end zone one time in the game, it just wasn’t enough for the injury ridden Cardinals.

Here is a flashback video of what happened last year when the 49ers beat the Cardinals.

Halloween bash in San Francisco’s Castro won’t rise from dead this year | Mike Aldax | Local | San Francisco Examiner

Golden State Warriors Limited Edition Rhythm Jersey

The Golden State Warriors

are releasing a new rhythm jersey that are being sold at all Bay Area Champs’ stores only. CHECK IT OUT!

In San Francisco, Halloween is celebrated more than most holidays. After the pre

halloween weekend full of fun. Today brings that actual trick or treat part of Halloween. While my age continues to grow, you start to see that these days have different meanings. Halloween now means going out and losing yourself with no regrets.

Halloween gives every person over the age of 18 an excuse to do whatever they feel like doing, and where whatever they feel like wearing without ever thinking about it twice. Walking around Downtown Frisco on Friday night, and the Marina district on Saturday proved my point to me further. Girls seemed to lose all self respect. When did wearing lingerie become the fad for Halloween. No one said I’m complaining, but come on, get a little more creative.

Finally, everyone be very careful on Halloween. The crazy people always find their way to the streets on October 31st.

In A City of Freedom, Obama Not Welcome in SF

It probably wasn’t the welcoming party that President Obama was expecting when he knew he was coming to San Francisco. With a laundry list of reasons why the citizens of the Bay Area are upset with Obama, he was definitely hearing the jeers over the cheers.

With guest paying at least $5000 a plate, I’m sure inside it was a bit more of a warming environment. Obama has recently stirred up several separate public groups and it will be interesting to watch and see how everything ends up.
